Yudanaka Onsen - Japan 2019

We spent the last three days of our trip to Japan travelling from Tokyo to Nagano, then transferring to Yudanaka. We spend the night in a traditional Japanese Ryokan and Onsen, and tried some of the local food prepared and served in the traditional style.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see any Snow Monkeys as the heavy snowfall blocked the roads to get there, but it was a fantastic leg of the trip none the less.

This video starts in Tokyo station where we board the Shinkansen to Nagano. We then boarded the Panoramic train through the mountains to Yudanaka.

I went there recently and took the same train. Thanks for making this video. It was nice to see Yudanaka again. The hotel we stayed at looked similar but had an outdoor Onsen that was really big. We went at 6am, no one there (on my side). Sitting in that water getting snowed on in 24°F temps was amazing. We didn't get as much snow so we saw the monkeys which was a whole separate adventure in itself. Bring crampons if you go again. Thanks again.
