Good god I wish I knew this was an actual thing, there’s no telling how many times I’ve tried to put big c clamps on the drill press for it to barely work

I have two. Probably the best thing I've ever gotten for a drill press. Even better when you have to drill holes at angles.

When I was young I once had to drill a hole in a metal plate at school with a drill press, I held the plate with pliers because there was nothing to secure it, all the clamps were in use, so the teacher told me to just hold it with pliers. The plate got stuck when i drilled it, turning the plate into a saw blade and almost chopped a thumb off...still have a scar... These clamps are more than handy, I learned my lesson, the teacher too when my dad heard about it. Saw something similar happened to someone else but that turned out a bit uglier.

There are also vices that are made to fit in drill presses. Theyre good for metal and you can put stops in them if you need to drill a lot of precise holes

Worth noting for metal workers the hold down will flex the piece

I have one and never use it, I find the size makes it very inconvenient- the clamp hits the bit so need to constantly unscrew and move it to a different slot for different shaped workpieces, but the jaw width also isn't wide enough for taller pieces. Of course part of the problem might be that I have the smallest HF drill press so it also often interferes with the press crank. I think if I could find one about half the length though it might see some use.

Those things are a must have. I accidentally invented them for the drill press where I work. the ones they sell are much better than rigged ones I made though by a lot welding only gets you so far.

Cool looking drill press. I have always believed woodworkers should bolt on a table/ fence system to their drill press to make it more useful for woodworking.

My $80 drill press (bought with a Sears gift card some 23 years ago) has one of these I got for $10 at Harbor Freight not long after taking the drill press home. Works great.
