The jazz bass sounds funky and the P Bass sounds jazzy

You forgot to turn the tone up on the p bass maybe

I think it’s a bit of an unfair comparison with the different tone knob settings
Some people getting started with bass may not know what a tone knob is, so they may just assume that those two basses can only get those sounds

Now what's the difference between a rock bass and a jazz bass?

A rock bass plays 4 notes to a thousand people

A jazz bass plays a thousand notes to 4 people.

The way you managed to get beautiful tones from both has me 😍

I'm at the point where every bass I pick up I end up messing with the tone knobs and dialing in the same tone I always use. Tone truly is in the fingers for the most part.

Jazz Base sounds like somebody farting under water

Think it's fair to say the two of them are so versatile they can't be covered in a short.
So relax guys, it's just two of the many famous tonalities

I'm surprised more people don't go for a PJ setup. Best of both worlds, man!

Sounds like the adjustment of the tone knob.

You’ve cut the high frequencies on the second one.

I’ve got a jazz bass and I’ve used it for 54years it’s an amazing bass gorgeous sound I just love fender guitars the best.🎸

The jazz bass tone sampled is a horrible representation of a sliver of a sound that the jazz bass can deliver

Big part of the difference here is also the position of the right hand.

I always wonder why producers choose pbass more often than J. I belive it is because the "bass profile" from a P is less jumpy due to the offset neck pickup. Thats why I play a pj, cause you get the nice brightness from the bridge J, with the added bass stability from the P.

I love how you making those noises perfectly describes the sounds of both instruments 😂

That was not a fair comparison, the J was using the bridge pickup and open tone while the P was using (as it couldn't be different) the middle/neck (whatever you prefer to call it) pickup and closed tone

P bass goes Bum Bum and J bass goes Bem Bem
