Definitely leaning towards the J just because I’m really fond of the way it sounds when slapping. I absolutely love its clear, bright sound with every slap, mute and pop!

BUT the way that P blends better with the mix and it’s deep, round sound it’s something to seriously appreciate.

Jazz Bass sounds amazing alone, but P bass sits so much better in the mix. For me PJ is the answer :)

This comparison made me 100% certain that the only logical choice is to buy a P bass then sandwich the split humbucker between a pair of J bass pickups creating one bass to rule them all

Personally I am a Jazz Bass type person. But in music there are places for both sounds.

I have used both basses over the years, and I just favor the faster, tonal response of the jazz bass all the way around, but, both are top notch basses....

I have had both a P Bass and J Bass at one time. When the time came to sell one for financial reasons, I kept the P Bass. In a band setting, it just sits so right. Im also a firm believer that if you can only have one bass, make it a P Bass.
