Wasn’t actually the welding that was the issue, that was just because the ghoul presumably only had experience with wearing power armour, not maintaining it so he would have likely made an educated guess as the the reason why the armour under the chest plate was so weak. He of course gets this wrong and the weakness with the armour is even further down the chain of production with the weakness being in the design of the power armour, where the armour just under the chest plate was designed to a lesser standard of ballistic weapons protection to allow for more mobility. Despite this, the armour in that region is still formidable, just to a significantly lesser extent compared to the rest of the armour, and the ghoul does know this because we see that he uses what looks to be some sort of custom made small arms APSFDS to take down the brotherhood knights.

The idea that this armour has existed for over a century, be refined by brotherhood scribes, and still have this one fatal insta-kill weakness baffles me. It’s just so stupid.

The Faulty Weld can be fixed by redoing the weld or by welding supplemental armor over it.

In the mini series yes, its not omnipotent. But in the game, oh boy even a deathclaw or Yao Guai or Bahemoth slaps you, you still standing tall with this power armor on 😂

Pretty clear that the enclave fixed that flaw . X-01 has it but the rest of the enclave amror has either extra plating or tempted linging that protects the user.

In reality the ghoul use armor percing ammo

You can see the ammo is the same shape as the armor percing ammo for tank
