Thoughts are with you Florida. Freeze bottles of water to keep your food cooler longer if power goes out. Hang in there.

Or even a Category 5. The storm surge will be massive. If you live on the West Coast of Florida, leave tomorrow.

It’s hard to attribute any single extreme weather event to climate change, but it’s also true that these extreme weather events are becoming more common due to a warming climate. Higher category hurricanes are slowly becoming more frequent. The reason why is three fold: higher temperatures increase the rate of ocean evaporation, warm air is capable of holding more moisture, and more heat means more potential energy and more wind. So storms in a hotter climate are capable of dumping more water and inflicting more damage. These storms are going to continue getting more severe in future decades. As a country we should be able to have an adult conversation about this trajectory, not banning the government from even mentioning the words “climate change”, like what florida’s state government has recently done.

If this hurricane takes the south track, will it be really bad for South Florida? Seems so. And I also heard that the south side may have a lot of tornados. Could we be in danger here in Broward and Miami Dade?

If comes down to a choice between saving heavy iron based weapons or saving your life in the storm surge... Remember the guns are innocent.

Hi WPLG Local 10, I dont see how this hurricane will decrease in intensity before making landfall, in my opinion, somewhere south of the Tampa Bay area, I went through huricane Wilma back in 2005, which actually had way less time than this one to gain strength and we ended up with a cat 3 hurricane in our area of MIami, in my opinion this one could very well be a cat 4 hurrciane by the time makes landfall somewhere in the southwest cost of Florida, rgs

Hoping Milton stays south of Tampa mitigating the destruction.

This storm became a Category 5 storm, and the strongest by pressure since 2007, and the strongest by windspeed since 2019.

Kind of strange how it just took a hard right towards Florida. Hope everyone stays safe and is either evacuating or prepared

I will likely be in the path of the eye of the storm. I lìved through Fancis and Gene. It has been over a decade I believe since we saw a storm like this. I dont believe it will weaken right before landfall. I think this is going to be an extremely powerful and destructive storm.
