The Symmetric Group, Part 1

Part 12 of our series on groups.

This time, we begin the discussion of permutation groups. The main goal of this video is to demonstrate in the traditional way how permutations can be decomposed into cycles and transpositions. The proofs are lengthy! However, this will only serve to make our methods in Part 2 that much more appealing, as we change our vantage point.
