How hard is it to for Americans to vote from abroad?!?

This is our first presidential election since moving to Denmark. We struggled through the convoluted process of registering for a ballot, waiting for a ballot, voting online, printing our ballot, hand crafting a makeshift envelope, and then sending it to the US with our fingers crossed that it will make it okay. Seems like we can make this process easier!!

Regardless, we did our civic duty anyway.

This is an interesting subject. You must treasure the fact that you can live abroad and vote back home.
Danes cannot. Not even if they work in Denmark, pay their taxes in Denmark, but live across the border.
If you work in Copenhagen. you pay your taxes in Copenhagen, but if you live in Malmö, Sweden - which is not unusual - you cannot vote.
If you work in Jylland (Jutland), you pay your taxes in Jylland, but if you live in Flensburg, Germany, you cannot vote.
Only if you live temporarily outside the country, because your company sent you out temporarily, you can vote by mail.
I have never been able to figure out why it is so. It is a hot subject that no politicians apparently seem to want to touch and change.
It embarrasses me.

Interesting that you left Chicago in 2018.
We were in Chicago to see Frank Lloyd Wright houses in Oak Park and stayed in Berwyn.
We also tried to track down the history of Jens Jensen and his history of creating parks in Chicago.

Question. I just voted online & received voter notification card. I did print out my ballot.
