Plurals are also a nightmare in German.

The most challenging thing for me learning German so far, has been to interiorise the subordinating cases to put the verbs in the correct positions. By writing it's quite easy, to speak naturally using subordinated clauses without making mistakes, it's other story.

For me one of the hardest things about German is, as an English speaker, word order and usage of prepositions.

Ironically this video gave me the courage to start learning the language.

I like how a siren goes off as you start talking about the tough grammar. Well done for warning us. Oh and good video, I have started German from scratch, a friend says it is easy, but he moved to Germany at age eight.

i tried learning german thinking that it is close to english due to similiarity of many words, but ended up killing many of my brain cells just trying to understand how to construct a german sentence alone, is it just me or does every phrase in german has its own word order ?

Nunca fiz um curso de inglês, e estudo pelo celular as x, com muita preguiça, mas estou me dedicando mais, aprendi Espanhol em menos de 3 meses, e agora entendo 50% do que você falou. OMG, estou muito feliz com isso <3

Dude you have a gift.

I learned German in school for two years when I was 14 and 15. I regret not paying attention because I'm nearly 30 years old learning German 😂 some words did stick like, ich bin, ich habe, auto, madchen, junge, frauen, manner, mann, frau, kinder, brot, wasser. Unfortunately that is a very limited conversation still.

I was pi55ing in the wind when I thought oh it'll all come back to me and I'll be fluent within a week. Hahahahahahaha 5 days in I'm getting sentences like the girl likes bread and water. Apparently she's on prisoner food haha

A funny thing about german is that you can build words of any length by putting together shorter ones. For example

You mentioned that it took you 4 years to reach a C1 level. How did you do this? What was the beginning like? What method(s) did you use? Did you live in a German speaking country? Did you take courses at the Goethe Institut? Do you have any experience with the regional dialects, specially Swiss German?
