Here are 4 tips to help you navigate your travel days with confidence:

#1- Plan Snacks! Whether you are on the road or in the air, planning snacks that are easy to transport and consume is a must. When thinking about snacks we want to make sure they are balanced with an emphasis on protein and whole foods. RX bars, applesauce pouches, turkey jerky, sliced apple with RX peanut butter, snack pack of nuts, and whey protein powder are all great options.

#2- Stay hydrated. If you are heading to an airport, be sure to pack an empty reusable water bottle that you can fill after getting through security. Did you know that traveling in a plane increases water loss? It is recommended to drink a minimum of 8 oz of water per hour of flight time. If you are hitting the road, be sure to pack extra water to refill while on your way. Staying hydrated will keep you awake, focused, and decrease mindless snacking and food cravings.

#3- Choose food options that align with your goal for larger meals. If you have the opportunity, stop at a grocery store! Finding easy pre-made foods like rotisserie or pre shredded chicken and pre-washed and cut fruits and veggies is a great way to prioritize whole foods while on the go.

#4- Make time to move. Moving our body is a foundational aspect of a healthy life but we know that travel can make that harder. If you are waiting for your plane, take a few laps in your terminal. If you are driving, take a few extra minutes to walk outside and stretch out when stopping for gas and restroom breaks.
