After a few subscribers told me to try the Pilot G2 gel pen, I thought I'd pick up a pack and see what this pen was all about. It is available in three different size points, and I chose the 1mm (Bold) point in blue.

These are some of the best pens i have ever used. Been using them for the last two years. I started using G2’s when i started college. Before that, I used many different pens from Bic Crystals, to Pentel, Mr Pen, and other no name brands, or some freebie pens i get from merchandise or gifts. Out of all of them I like the Bic Crystals, since they were cheap, simple, reliable, never dries out, doesn’t smudge or bleed, but the writing quality is decent at best since its an oil based inks, which is cheaper than gel based, and its non refillable, again, oil based inks are thicker so it probably wont need one. The Bic crystal are meant to be disposable like the Bic lighters. The other pens, while the writing quality was better, they tended to break, dry out, or leak ink. I bought my first G2 pens which had the 0.7mm tip, and I fell in love with them, writing quality was great, refillable, they dont smudge or bleed, they’re built well, i haven’t had any drying out under normal use, i use the pens during lectures to write down notes and do homework, etc. I had some that stopped working if i store them in my pocket for too long, i think heat is its weakness. But I dont store pens in my pocket anyway now. Recently I bought a 10 pack of G2 1.0 mm pens in different colors, they all work great, and the extra colors come in handy. However my black one for some reason is leaking a decent amount of ink at the tip, the other ones dont have this issue, its only the black one, Im not sure if the pen was faulty or if it was user error. I emailed Pilot Customer Service through their website yesterday asking how to fix this, and i just got an email back from them today, and they apologized and have sent me a new one at no charge to me. I just asked for how to fix it, but they went the extra step and said we will replace it. Great customer service from Pilot. Not only does Pilot make some of the best pens, but also have the best support for it. Made me a loyal fan to Pilot. Nowadays I use the G2 for most writing applications, and have some Bic Crystals as disposables since there are some cases for me where the G2 will stop working. Bic crystals i can use it for that and if it stops working, i can throw it away.

I knew your channel yesterday. So, incredible. It's amazing. I'm a Brazilian viewer who loves pen writing. Your writing (cursive and printing letters) is beautiful. This kind of writing is disappearing here in Brazil. I learned the cursive writing with my father in 80s. God bless you and your family forever.

I’ve been on team G-2 for many years. Absolutely my favorite inexpensive pens and the only ones you’ll find in my office, home and briefcase. I use the G-2 in black with the 0.7 mm tip. They come in boxes of sixteen at Sam’s Club. Had no idea they are refillable. Haven’t ever seen the refill packs. Always enjoy your take on pencils, pens and related equipment, Kevin.

I love the 1.0 for its buttered glass smoothness and effortless glide. I was at my mom's yesterday and saw that she had a G2 0.38 for her grocery lists and stuff. Different animal entirely, but the point pressure would be over 4x higher with that small a point. As smooth as that size could be, but not as pleasing to use.

They are great pens. These are my favorite and second favorite is Bic Cristal and Round Stic. I prefer to write in blue. My mom introduced me to these a long time ago. I’m a mechanic and use these at work to fill out our multipoint inspections and everyone is always using them lol. Also they make colors like red and purple also and I believe more. I use blue the most though.

Some pens are just a magical match for cursive, and Pilot gel pens fit that bill. I've only tried a G-2 fine point once back when I wasn't even 15 years old and fell in love with it, but I could not justify the price of buying one for myself. Now I can get one and a few refills with no fuss, but I have too many good smooth pens already that I want to use up first, including two Pilot Super Grip ballpoints (one stic in 1.6mm, one retractable in 1.0).

Great Video! While pencils are my favorite as well and my go to choice I do enjoy pen reviews as well. The G2 is certainly an iconic pen and back when I was only into pens it was an important pen and played a part in me finding out which pens I myself prefer. There are certainly a lot of them out there. In large part because of your review on the Musgrave pencils I myself decided to place an order with Musgrave and I am very happy with what I got. The Tennessee Red pencil is my favorite even though it is hard to sharpen; it smells amazing. I'm curious if you have tried any Blackwing pencils? While I use many pencils on a daily basis I always have my Blackwing 602 nearby. I have yet to find a pencil that is as smooth a writer.

These pens are amazing. These pens were not really available in my locality (India) so i ordered a few from amazon. Their refills are a bit expensive so i like to use Pentel Energel refills in them as it fits perfectly and is cheap.

I’m a total pen nerd and have used G2 for years in 0.7 and recently 1.0. You should check out the Zebra Sarasa Dry, best I’ve ever used.

I prefer the uniball signo series more. Costs about the same but with a comfier grip, better more premium look and feel. and their .38 is smoother than pilots which i use for check writing and small note taking. Writes really clean.

The green one is very expensive and could only buy it online. Might as well use the Japanese Gelocity (BiC gel pen with white slanted lines over pen body) pack for green gel ink.

What brand of graph paper do you use on your pencil pen pen reviews? I don't see no brand name. Thank you.

Pilot Precision V10 1.00 MM is more bolder than this Premium Gel Pen 1.0 MM.
