I know this video's about Galaxy S6, but seeing the Oneplus One reference brings back a lot of memories. Although I never owned one, I heard great reviews from people who had it. I owned a phone called Yureka, which played a, I'd say a big role in Oneplus bringing its OxygenOS to the global market. That phone was a custom rom beast.

Your mistake was running an android version that high on such an old phone. Android 11 would work much better on this phone. I can tell, because on my Galaxy J7 2016 with 2GB of RAM I was using Android 10 64-Bit ROM and it was running just fine.

Custom ROMs rock. My Pixel 6 pro got screen damage last week. Had an old Redmi Note 10 Pro lying around. Flashed latest LineageOS official build on it. Works like a charm. Don't root your phone and all banking apps will work. Its so smooth, stable and has so many features compared to my P6pro (Headphone jack, dedicated dual sim + sd card slot, IR port) that I don't think I will be getting my P6pro fixed right now. Custom roms make a lot of sense for phones as long as you don't go overboard and root your device. My Galaxy tab s2 from 2015 still gets monthly security updates. Also Pixelexperience devs have started Pixelbuilds, so its not really dead...

Nice vid! I'm running android 14 on Galaxy A8 (2018) and the experience is pretty good. This phone can now last another 3 years easily with a battery change😁. I'm also running Evolution X custom rom (Android 14) on a Xiaomi CC9 (Mi 9 Lite) as daily driver. It is super stable

Seeing a 16:9 screen is so bizarre nowadays. I lowkey miss it ngl (Shoutout to designers of Nexus 6 and Lumia 1520)

For daily usage I wouldnt recommend rooting your phone. Just flash the rom, gapps and youre good to go. And great video, would love to see more videos on custom ROMs.

The thing is right, knox only exists on samsung devices. But even without root u would trip google's new integrety API, with root u can bypass (meets_device_integrety, meets_basic_integrety but not meets_stronger_requirement), the last one is reliant on the status of the bootloader and not even with a fuse these days. But I would say that it's a strong conflicting matter because it mostly depends on the rom that you're using and what signatures the rom has been signed with. Example EvolutionX for my Redmi Note 8 Pro is signed with a test key where google services won't work at all (unless u have the ability to change rom signatures within the rom is pretty limited at most and will never be perfect) and yes I agree root will be always detected unless you mount it specifically for a certain app using kernelsu, magisk would leave files behind.
I personally would say that rooting and having a custom rom is pretty much only benifitial of you have a budget phone, since the budget phones of XiaoMi only get around 2-3 years of software updates and maintenance. But for a flagship custom rom is only benifitial after the EOL has been reached.
But overall I would say, keep up the good work and I see you in the next video!

If you used the oneui 6.1 version u will get the new photo processing algorithims from the s21 ultra on the s6 edge.. it will take a bit longer to process photos tho.. but results will be better than stock camera.. i think a video on that rom is a good idea.. no need to use the phone again just show us the rom and its features
