How to calibrate a micrometer

I have an inexpensive General micrometer that I've had for perhaps 20 years. Instead of using a spanner wrench for adjustment like yours does, it has an Allen head set screw. You bottom the spindle against the anvil, loosen the set screw, reposition the barrel, then re tighten the set screw. It helps to tighten the lock while doing this so the spindle doesn't move.

That's not a calibration. That's a zero point adjustment.
