Phoenix Raceway Is Frustrating…

The Phoenix Raceway is frustrating. Every year we go to this track twice, one of which being the championship race. There are some long term reasons that fans are upset about Phoenix Raceway like the racing itself, but others have emerged in recent years that could put the track on the verge of greatness had they changed just a few things. So why is Phoenix so frustrating?

What are your opinions on the Phoenix Raceway?

Phoenix isn’t a horrible track, but it’s not worthy of 2 races, let alone the Season Finale. The best part about Phoenix is the tunnel the teams drive under to leave the track.

Yesterday's race proved why Phoenix shouldn't permanently be the season finale. 1 race is enough, and give the finale back to Homestead.

Phoenix isn’t worthy of being the season finale. The drivers were even displeased with the short track package. Yet NASCAR doesn’t listen. Bring the finale back to Homestead.

As a fan of Kyle Larson, you'd *think* I'd be defending Phoenix as the finale track. I mean, my driver WON his season capping 10th race of 2021 there! That win got him the championship!
No, I hate the track hosting the finale. I hated it when it was announced in 2019, we saw the '19 race, i bashed it then. we've had 4 years of this track hosting the finale, and while '23 was a good finale, it had SUCH a low bar to clear considering what came before it.

And that Larson win from '21? He had to get it on pit road. *and* had to have a short run get it for him. And that's BEFORE i bring up the shitty ass points system that NASCAR has everyone confined to. I don't mind a race coming down to the pitcrew, but the championship?! No. no. Send the finale back to Homestead. I want RACING, not up to date amenities.

Not to mention, with the start/finish line being where the backstreet used to be, it causes way too much chaos on starts/restarts. For example, the 2023 championship race for the truck series where it had 4 overtime attempts because of the chaos on the restarts

The only time I will hate Phoenix will be the championship race. It’s not right for it. Homestead is the perfect track for finale. Still can’t believe they put in second race for round of 8

It's hard to blame NASCAR when everyone loved the first race or two with the Phoenix facelift. That's probably why they decided to make it the finale track. But it has gotten stale, I'm onboard with that.

Outside of restrictor plate racing, NASCAR needs to increase the horsepower, set general rules/limitations for car setups and leave the teams to it. All these different race packages and micromanaging how the teams need to setup their cars for different tracks is killing the racing.

Modern Phoenix is a boring mickey mouse track with uninspiring flat turns. It needs a reconfiguration at this point

How appropriate The 20 & The 17 Finish 1-2 at the hands of The Christopher & Christopher Show Considering Yesterday was Matt Kenseth's Birthday And That His 39th And Final Career Win Came at Phoenix in 2017

My fix for Phoenix is either repave the track the same way it was before 2012 by getting rid of the progressive banking that was added in the turns, making the dogleg flat again, and bringing back grass/artificial turf, or go all out and increase the banking in the turns to make it drive more like an intermediate while still making the dogleg the same as pre 2012 and bringing back grass/turf. One of the worst aspects about Phoenix now outside of the racing is the fact that its just an asphalt jungle now with no character, bringing some greenery back would be a massive step in the right direction.

For a track that’s only a mile in length, we should not be having cars going like 10 wide. Maybe the racing would be a little better if they didn’t let them race all over the place at Phoenix and have more tight quarter racing. But beyond the spread out restarts and being a beautiful facility, there really isn’t much more to advertise about Phoenix. I don’t hate the track but Homestead just feels more natural as the season finale

Move the championship race back to Homestead

I didn't even think the race was that bad for Phoenix standards. It's put races on like this for years and is never going to change.

Phoenix isn’t a horrible track but it should only have 1 date and not the finale. Also I still think the package is more the issue rather than the track. It has potential to put on a good race

Phoenix is awful, it’s simply terrible, there has only been a handful of memorable races.

I miss Chicagoland. This car is perfect for that track. We are missing out on something potentially great. Instead we have 2 Phoenix and 2 Richmond races 😢

NASCAR definitely has to make that dog leg, off-limits out of bounds make them race on the track that alone would bring a better race, but it is a flat track that’s driven almost like a road course and it always will be

It's my hometrack, so it's where I've seen almost every NASCAR race I've attended. I do wish the racing could improve. I do think the package is more of an issue than the track. Facility wise though its awesome. And obviously we got lots of NASCAR fans here that support racing here.
