Dr. Anthony Fauci, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and other public health officials held a COVID-19 briefing on Wednesday after governors in several states announced plans to roll back mask mandates for schools and many other indoor spaces. Walensky said the CDC continues to recommend indoor masking in "areas of high and substantial transmission” but acknowledged state and local jurisdictions are responsible for these policies.
