A beautiful sounding guitar, but why is Maton's top of the line guitar, just another D28 copy?

Back in the 80's I had 2 Matons and they were both made from Queensland Maple and had a distinctive sound that was Matons own, now they seem to be just making guitars that sound similar to other top of the line guitars.
