Just a correction. AVX512 has been removed from 12th-gen Intel cpu's, so your best bet is the 11-gen series (Rocket Lake) instead. AMD Zen 4 also has its own implementation of AVX512.

The fact that a PS3 emulator exists is a miracle, the PS3's architecture is notoriously awful for developers but somehow RPCS3 is getting there and improving everyday

6 Cores, AVX512 and strong IPC is a must have for RPCS3... probably the news Ryzen 9000 CPUs move with much more ease the heavy games of the PS3.
EDIT: Ryzen 7 CPUs also support AVX512 but in 2 cycles, but can still move GT5 at 60FPS, saludos!

And in case you are wondering, no. The Steamdeck processor does not support AVX-512 either. AMD introduced it with Zen 4. Steamdeck's Ryzen 3 4300U is a Zen 3. It does however support AVX2, which is the 256 bit extension to AVX. Pretty much all compilers support it, but I don't know how much of that instruction set can be used by them to improve performance, when compiling code designed for the 512 bit extension.

As some one who doesnt know much and just found this emulator and downloaded it a week ago im just impressed that the ps3 is now retro and can be emulated my pc is a best buy pre build from 2019 and a 1660 super so a little dated but it still runs most games above 60 fps upscaled 200% res

Yo, I'm still rocking a 4790K btw, and the only reason I changed my old C2Q 9550 for this one, was just to play PCSX2. On that front it's amazing! And even to this day it has served me well, no complaints, BUT! My old C2Q felt pretty much the same as this i7 when doing some online browsing and youtube watching. It's on video games and source codes compilation where I notice a big difference.

But you are right, a CPU with AVX512 is a requirement for decent RPCS3 utilization. Just like SEE4.1 is a requirement for PCSX2. Can you use something else instead of those extension? Yes, ofc, but the performance won't be the best possible.
Nice video mate!
Cheers!

Well 4 cores 8 threads as way back as sandy bridge i.e i7 2600k can play a good amount of 3rd party (Playable) titles it's only first party titles or games that uses the PS3 architecture more effectively i.e Gran Turisimo 5, 6, Killzone 2, 3 TLOU & stuff like GTA 5 & Infamous these really need as much cores & AVX 512 to get playable framerate. The PS3 architecture was hard to work with for game developers so some of them used easier ways to utilize the ps3 in turn they lost a lot of performance & or fidelity whilst others leaned into the architecture that brought us Impressive visuals and performance at the time. That is somewhat correlated to how easy or hard it is to emulate said games (Not Always though). That is probably the reason some games never came to newer gen consoles or PC as well, cause a lot of work needs to be done to port it over if devs leaned into PS3 SPU's.

still playing on my 4-core i7 laptop from 8 years ago, but you are right, some games really suck...for example gt5, gt6, gow3, ascension, motorstorm, etc, i get like 10-15 fps

Both Xenia and RPCS3 are too demanding. This is stupid. Xenia is 70% broken to this day, RPCS3 is still a mess and a PS4 emulator will be way faster. (shadPS4 is an example)

Mbolo/Salama/Hi guys, That's true about RPCS3 the more Cores and threads the better experience you get but also the clock speed of the CPU does matter..Great video man... however you can have a good experience with a 3rd Gen i7 3770 some game you won't be able to upscale to 4k and have a good experience but with a lot you will play just fine I know that because i built a PC which i modded a bit a 3rd Gen with 16GB DDR3 GPU RX580 8G and RCPS3 is working smoothly and also with a i5 7600 you can play fine most of games but some will crash because it is 4 cores 4 threads the more threads the better however since i moved to i7 7700 all game are playable in 4K smoothly for most if not all so far...I have videos i posted from i5 to i7 7 Gen and you will see the difference...so to me having 4 cores is the minimum and 8 threads to have a good experience so from 2nd Gen i7 2600 or i7 2600K with a good GPU YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY just fine, that's from my own experience...Shalom

This game rereleased on PC (and PS4) - What the point on running it on emulator ?

So in short we need at least 8 core CPU from i5 9000 series or Ryzen 3600 and above and add patches to games and change some settings

0:20 the way some commenters will act under CCs' videos is so entitled it baffles me every time, even if I know it full well.
I'm sorry you had to "discuss" with a dirtbag like that, left a Sub+Like. ;)

Even without avx512 12th gen is really fast on rpcs3. Upto 5000 series ryzen, bad for rpcs3. Even i5 11600 will defeat 5800x3d.

Anyone know why the folder in which RPCS3 comes in is growing in size? I've looked a bit into it and I keep reading something about PPU LLVM and SPU? Is there a way to compress this?
