When my Grandfather was dying our Maltese wanted to get to him. If we let him he would not let anyone near him. Rocky loved my Grandfather so much. When he died Rocky stared at his empty chair. They do have deep feelings.

I'm so glad that animals arw finally being included in memorial services! Sometimes the pet is the only family an elderly person has! And including them makes the transition easier for the pet!

My husband passed away on March 30th and our Cody was given the opportunity to take his moment with him before they took him out. He sniffed him head to toe and back slowly twice and then he licked his face 4 times and jumped on his chair and watched them take him out and away. He sat in that chair for the next 4 days looking out the window and didn’t eat or drink anything during that time and only wanted to go out to go to the bathroom and then back to the chair and window. Today he is in his chair and waits for him to come home. He would not go into our bedroom and cried at the bedroom door. He knows that when I am crying I need him and he comes to me instinctively and gives me affection. We both miss him! Everyone around us tries to tell me that I need a small dog and he is too much for me. I feel like we are connected in ways that they don’t understand and I can’t trade him for a new model. I Love Cody and he Loves me and we are here for each other!

When we lost our rottie, her son was still with us. My parents dug a hole for her and placed her in it. They said they let him stay near her open grave, and he cried and just layed there for a long while. They have big emotions. I think more than we give them credit for.

Anyone who believes that "they're just animals" needs to see this. They have souls and they grieve loss just like we do. Poor baby.😢

Man, dogs are the best. They’re just so loyal, and yes, they have actual feelings.

I honestly believe that we are watching domestic dogs evolve emotionally. I think we're going to see more dogs having the ability to truly cry (different from whining), adding more ways to connect with humans and to express themselves emotionally.

Heartbreaking. One day, even our fur babies, will be reunited in Heaven. 🙏 ❤😢

We lost our Yorkie a few years ago and our cat Marley who was her best friend mourned for Lacey for 6 months or more. They used to play Hide n Seek with each other and Marley would walk around looking in Lacey's hiding places looking for her. Some people may not think animals grieve a loss but Marley sure did. We've had other dogs since Lacey but she's never bonded with the others like this. RIP Lacey and just so you know Mom still has the BIBLE you chewed the corner off of and we think about you every Sunday when we see it.

I remember when my dog died; her daughter yelled for a week. We basically cried together. It was so sad. I then discovered that they have deep emotions just like we do. 😢
