In order for capitalists to make a profit, their workers have to earn less than the value they produce, and that extra value has to go to their bosses. I just wonder, if it is ONLY about getting a chef to cook burgers, why doesn't that chef buys ingredients and makes and sells burgers on his own? I wonder why is that. Richard doesn't include it in the calculation at all.

At a $7.25 minimum wage the worker in that scenario gets far less than $1000 a week.

I agree with workers not getting the value of their labour, but then how would the restaurant owner in this case make money if he bought the ingredients and manages the restaurant while the chef cooks?

I wish you went more into depth about possible solutions after explaining the profit is inherently exploiting the value of your labour. A lot of people will just be like "Yeah so? That's the way things are". These people need to be given a solution to at least consider moving away from thinking that things have to be the way they are now. We could push for worker cooperatives/democratized workplaces instead of authoritarian business models. Frame it as like a "No representation, no taxation" argument. If our work value is going to be exploited, we the workers should have at least a significant voice in where these profits are distributed to help grow the business.

Some companies here in Denmark has equal pay, its usualy small buisnesses but everyone from the aprentice to the boss gets the same Cut after costs are payed for

The fact that the Capitalists were able to successfully propagandize the masses into believing that labor is NOT exploitative by definition- even though that's literally impossible- is just so discouraging. It's the most fundamental aspect of understanding worker's rights, yet we have to argue JUST to get to that baseline understanding before we can even begin discussing our global economic future in a humane way. There's just so much work left.
