And I'm glad you don't have to be there anymore she was your roommate with the intent to mold you into a person that was so silent and so easy going that you could hardly even be existing. It really shows that she's an only child because she threw tantrums regularly and can not be rationed with and it surprises me that she did so much more and you kept some of it out of the video to preserve her character as much as possible that's really grown up of you. One thing I learned from this is that being roommates may have it’s difficulties, but it’s about working together and solving each other’s problems. If you don’t like something, discuss it with your roommate, don’t be a child and act stupid because it’s not gonna get anything solved, it’ll just make things worse. Talk it out calmly, and a solution will hopefully display itself.

And that’s why I absolutely love this video, Yoon. Although I don’t have a roommate yet, I can understand this completely. And for that I thank you.

Honestly my sympathy for her ended with the light situation.
Just because your roommate has a social life doesn't mean you get to be salty about it. You're an adult. You need to be civil and learn how to compromise. When you share a room, you need to learn how to work together to create a friendly environment, not be a petty little brat and try to controle the whole room.

Speaking from experience, I had a roommate who would enter the room and at 2- 3:00 am turn on her bright ass light and talk to her friends and boyfriend as loudly as possible on her phone. Although I would leave to the library and study, and would bend over backwards to make her comfortable, she would act as if I was a guest or I didn't exist and do things (sometimes sexual)that made me feel really uncomfortable. It got to the point where I had to move out of the room, because she just wasn't interested in compromising and I was loosing a lot of sleep and weight over the stress.

If you ever get a roommate that doesn't respect your wishes and tries to control the room, then don't be afraid to move out. It is your housing departments responsibility to keep your safety in mind. So if you voice your concerns and are insistent on your decision to move, then they are obligated to move you, if housing space is available.

Don't take abuse from roommates and don't feel obligated to make a toxic situation work. Do what's best for you.

I'm surprised they didn't mention how not only recording your convo is illegal, but so is threatening and blackmailing someone. She could've gotten into a lot of trouble then because she would've committed 3 crimes technically. I still think you've handled the situation very well, you acted in a civil way, tried to be a good roommate, played the mature card, and didn't act in a petty way or even tried to get revenge or something. You've handled it all like an adult and that's very admirable, you should be proud of yourself for standing up for yourself and managing to get through it all. I respect that
