The ground was frozen solid, the grass was crisp and the sky ice blue, my absolute favourite metal detecting conditions. This place oozes history and is always a proper expedition visiting this historic place. I would find something I've never seen before..

This is the truth about metal detecting. Some times you find nothing at all. It’s all about being out in the fresh air and maybe finding something while you’re out. You’re so fortunate to have the peaks on your doorstep. I’m about an hour or so away. It’s a treat getting out hiking up there 🥲appreciate every day 🥰

Being a detectorist myself, we all have those slow days for finds. But just as you stated, being outside can & should bring a smile to your face. Just look at those wavy clouds to the left of the sun at the 5:42 mark. I picked up on that right away and said to myself, what a beautiful sight.

Gareth, that is a great looking permission. I’m sure there are more finds out there. If detecting was easy everyone would do it. I have a collection of coins with holes in them. For some reason people put holes in some coins more than others. A good patina on a coin can make all of the difference. Thanks for taking us along on your hunt… John

Well done for getting out, and you got a couple of finds..
I've been out early today, did 3 hours. I found about £11, a horse harness ring and a slab of lead.. that's it.
Not a single pre decimal.
I came home to go and visit my dad.
