This is such a forgiving recipe. I’ve made it 6 times so far (double batches) and perfect every time. I pour it onto cookie sheet and it sets really well . Highly highly recommend

My brother in law makes toffee for the men at his Fire station and for us each Christmas.
His toffee is always thin and easy to bite into because of an "Accident" at the firehouse.
He unknowingly put the cookie sheet on the stove with a low fire going.
When he poured the toffee and began to spread it, he noticed that it wasn't setting up Fast as normal.
Then he feels the heat from the cookie sheet!
Once it cooled it set up great. But, it was much thinner!
Today, he places the cookie sheet in a low oven to preheat it -- Perfect Toffee Everytime! ♥️😋😋😋 Give it a try sometime!
Thanks for your Wonderful
Videos! You are Amazing!
😃👍♥️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🍀🍀🍀

I have made toffee for 50 years. I take it out of the pan while still pliable, using the parchment tabs, place it on a flat surface and use a pizza cutter to make pretty squares and then let it cool. Took me 30 years to think of that! Gosh, the toffee gifts I gave are countless but always appreciated.

I sent my husband this video (as well as a 3 layer bar recipe of yours) last week, and oh boy! He had me buy a special pan from Amazon for them both. He's 72 (veterinarian still working) and loves to cook (we've been married 47yrs). Then he was looking through your videos and was exclaiming about so many of your recipes, I finally bought your hard bound cook book for him on Amazon! He is the best cook between us, and will be making many of your good recipes yippee!
I have rarely seen him so interested in a cook on YT, I wanted you to know we are enjoying your videos and getting ready to cook many of them. Hoping you had a very merry Christmas, and will follow with a wonderful New Year! You've given us much JOY!!! :)

You remember the old jif peanut butter commercial where they spread a knife over the peanuts and it turns into peanut butter? That's what the chocolate chips reminded me of.

Made this yesterday. It’s amazing. And he is right. It’s WAY better then store bought. worth the time and effort … 15 mins start to finish at home.

Western Australian here.
May I just say thank you for putting things in grams and mls!
It makes the recipe so much easier to follow for anyone outside of the USA! Will definitely be making this!

I want to thank you. Unknowingly I was cooking with cheap pots. I heard your advice today and I was preparing red Mexican rice which I never get right and I have to go buy at the store.. I thought of what you said and for the first time, I actually made perfectly red rice. You are right about investing in good pots

Made this for my first time ever making toffee. It came out exactly like the one John did. This is a keeper. Everyone loved it, my husband most of all. Thank you so much!!

I just watched 2 short videos for this recipe. They were only 2 ingredients. My third batch I made after watching this video and it is great. The first one along with the second got thrown away. Quicker isn’t always the best or easiest! I can’t thank you enough. This is for Christmas in a few days and I know now to always go to your videos first. Ty

I'm making this with a layer of mini pretzel twists on the bottom instead of pecans!

Whenever I think of working with sugar, I picture hot lava in a ruined pan. But this worked out exactly the way you said, and I was so excited to try it. This, your chocolate fudge and also the peanut butter fudge made up my candy plate for the New Year's dinner. Everyone was quite impressed. Thank you for making me look so good!

I just got through making this just now. I poured my toffee out on a Silpat and the toffee is super thin. I added the chocolate and some crushed Butterfinger bar bits on top because that's what I had in my pantry. Delicious. Next time I will use pecans. Thank you for this lovely recipe.

Merry Christmas John. Love your channel! My wife and I made your toffee recipe tonight. We have been baking and making candy together for as long as we have been married (42 years) and we have never tried English Toffee. Well it turned out perfect. Just on thing we would change, a large pan so it isn't so thick. But it is so melt in your mouth. We appreciate you sharing it

I failed at toffee years ago and haven't tried making this again until I saw your video and it turned out perfectly! You explain things so well! Thank you! <3

I made this recipe for Christmas gifts this past year. Everyone said it was the best toffee they ever had.
I’m no baker or even a dessert maker. It was the first toffee I’d made and it was a complete success. Totally recommend and a big thumbs up 👍
