The real reason so many teenagers are depressed (social media / dopamine). Not the victim mindset excuses.

As a British teenager I could not agree with you more, sir. Subscribed.

As a 14 year old student I have to agree to 100%. There's plenty of time and I hate it when they all say that they get bad grades because they don't have enough time. Once we have made an experiment about how long each one of us spends time on their phone. One of them was 7 hours a day on tiktok. I don't want to say that I am perfect, I also procrastinate too often, but I don't want to blame it on the school. Since I realised that my mobile doesn't give me happiness, my life has changed a lot, I finally do more sports and I get better grades and I am way more happy than before, because I found a purpose in life. I am still not perfect, but I know that I can change and better myself from day to day.

As a teen I think that the problem is too much dopamine and too much school...

some teenagers on social media think they know everything, that's suck.

It rlly depends on which school you go to and what country your school is in. Like in England school is literally a piece of cake, there’s barely any homework and for the majority of people as long as they scrape a pass they don’t really care. Whereas in Asian countries such as india there is insane amounts of pressure, homework and expected discipline to be able to sit and study for hours upon end.

im a music major.
i have a 6 (3 hours each) hour trip going to my music school and back. i try to play my instrument 2/3 hours a day, when i have free afternoons/no music classes.
i dont have as much time to study for philosophy as i would like to, but i work my ass off, and my average last year was 88/100 (highschool).
most people are lazy and excuse themselves. i do not stop until i learn everything. i like hard work, it's worth it in the end.

Eliminated IG and PMO from my daily basis, life makes more sense from that moment on.

I'm trying to motivate my friend to get up and improve his mental health, his memory and just generally the capabilites of his brain because i believe that being mentally healthy doesn't only make everything that you have to do like school things easier, which results in you having more time to do the things you really want to do and also it helps you actually doing the things you want to do even if it involves a little bit of work, but being mentally healthy also just makes you happier in general, which is what everyone's goal is in the first place. And even though he admits that he's lazy and understands that he's wasting his time he still doesn't get up which just shows what the lives in western society do to us. We become so lazy and undisciplined that we can recognize this and still not even try to change or even see that as a problem in the first place.

It’s one thing and one thing only, school. The system.

since i uninstalled social media (except youtube), i have felt SO MUCH MORE CONFIDENT. it's fucking crazy.
my friends call actually really pretty people 'ugly'.. they are COMPLETLY brainwashed with the toxic beauty standards of the robotic media. i'd say this is the main reason teenagers have an awful self-esteem.

couldn't agree more about the rest !

I'd have to disagree here - I went to a really competitive (and highly immigrant-Asian) high school in the US and took AP classes; the pressure to succeed is really intense, since everyone is competing for a small number of spots at top colleges, and at times there's literally no time to do anything other than study. You usually hear about these types of environments being in Asia, but there are some parts of the US where it's also like that. With that said, any teenager facing issues with procrastination, escapism, etc should definitely get on the self-improvement train ASAP

It depends if you have a close friend group who distracts from the useless, boring monotone shit the school throws at you or if you are a lonely loser who has nobody to turn to and sees his life falling apart.
