Miele is a family run business and has been around for decades. This German electronics manufacturer produces high-quality washing machines. Both for domestic and commercial use. Faults on washing machines do happen and if you read your instruction manual it may help a little to decipher the error. But it’s far easier to see Common Miele washing machine problems and troubleshooting here…

In-depth Error Codes
Unlike other brands, Miele washing machine fault codes use a range of messages, sounds, symbols, and flashing lights to signal the problem. These built-in diagnostic tools identify the issue so you can pass that information on to your technician. Look at the following examples for troubleshooting Miele washing machine problems:

Messages
Water Inlet Fail!
The most common causes apart from a kinked hose include a blocked water inlet filter, connectivity issues, or low water pressure. A closed or not fully open stopcock is another reason for this error message.

Drain Fault!
A variety of reasons for this error message include electrical faults and connectivity problems. The drain of the filter could be blocked. Or the fitting height of the drain hose may be positioned too high.

Technical Fault!
Indicating that inspection is required by a specialist as this needs thoroughly investigating. Problems could be related to wiring and electrics, or issues with the control panel. Power cuts and poor-quality connections may also be the culprits.

Waterproof Fault!
Re-setting the error code will need to be done by a professional if the waterproof system has been triggered.

Call Service
This is another technical error that needs a technician to correctly fit the lamp in the drum, which may have become dislodged. Or could be due to an electrical fault.

A Blank Display
Denotes that there is no power. This could be that the display has switched off automatically in order to conserve energy and is in standby mode. The door may not be closed properly, or a fuse or circuit breaker has been tripped.

Lights
Miele washing machine troubleshooting also involves the recognition of LED flashing indicators. Common faults include:

Soak/Pre-Wash, Main Wash, or Rinse Hold
This is again a technical fault that needs attention from a service engineer as the flashing lights indicate where the issue may be.

Inlet/Drain
This flashing or solid light indicates that the stopcock isn’t open. Or that the inlet filter is soiled and needs cleaning. The inlet hose may be kinked, or the water pressure may be too low.

Excess Detergent or Start Indicator
Flashing lights here mean one of two things – the incorrect detergent dispensing setting has been selected – or the lock on the inner lid hasn’t engaged.

Start LED is Blank
This may be due to the door not being closed properly. Or indicating that there’s no power due to a faulty connection, or a tripped fuse or circuit breaker.

Noises and Odours
Strange noises may come from the pump or the drum. And rattling sounds may occur during the spinning programme. These all require inspection from a technician. And adjustments may need to be made on the levelling aspect.

If the washing machine is emitting an unpleasant smell this could be due to a soiled drum, incorrect usage of detergent, a fault with the dosage dispenser, or insufficient detergent.
