It is shown in researches that more than 5% niacinamide can cause irritation. Stick to using only 5%

Niacinamide is used to lighten Acne marks it doesn't reduce acne. Salicylic acid works for acne.

5% Niacinamide is a safe percentage to use ( good for sebum production). Use AHA/BHA for pores, Vit C for brightening, and Retinoids for anti-aging. Avoid mixing retinoids with AHA and other actives.

Oh my God!! I Have the same face issues as yours... Same situation for me..After watching loads of videos from YouTube.. I bought plum 10% niacinamide ... on the first day i had no issues... 2nd day itching and burning..3 rd day purging and breakouts.. I stopped using...
Rare little videos youtubers mentioned, beginners should start with only 5% niacinamide. But i was late.
Anyway I stopped using it. Cant take anymore chances.
Wish to try Vit C Serum. Yesterday saw a video that of there is alcohol content in the serum the acne will purge out.

I can TOTALLY relate with this video.. I myself have been a victim of using the dermaco 10% niacinamide+ zinc serum. At first, for a couple days my skin was glowing.. but hell broke loose after that and I had such a huge breakout all over my face. My skin barrier was completely damaged and got worse by the days. It took me 2 years to completely heal from the skin trauma.
That was actually my first time ever using a face serum and I actually had no knowledge of active ingredients. I started researching ingredients and learning more about skincare ever since.
The Cetaphil gentle cleanser and Cetaphil DAM moisturizer is what healed my skin. If you're suffering from ruined skin barrier or breakouts, i highly recommend using the Cetaphil skincare range.

Yes, that happened to me as well. I used 5% niacinamide, wanted to lighten my scars but all it did was giving me nothing but acnes over and over and over

Beginners should start with 5% only, use salicylic acid twice a week and if you are constantly breaking out more and more acne please use a benzoyl peroxide face wash.. and never skip sunscreen 🙏🏻

You did mistake of jumping to direct 10% niacinamide
You should go with low concentration of niacinamide

Niacinamide won't reduce acne, salicylic acid does.
5% niacinamide is enough.

It depends on the formulation as well sometimes.. you can use 10% niacinamide if the formulation is more hydrating and soothing. I used to use 5% and it did NOTHING! literally nothing to my skin. But now I use 10% from plum and the formulation is so amazing! It has squalane, licorice, rose water, rice water, fermented rice extract, cucumber, aloevera and more... It really soothes my skin💜 skincare is subjective and what suits for me might not suit for some and vice versa. Similarly niacinamide NEVER CAUSES PURGING it's the other ingredients that react to your skin.

The people who are saying that 5% niacinamide is better wouldn't cause breakouts So, hear me out My dermatologist told me to stop using niacinamide serum even tho I told it's only 5% of niacinamide but she said it clogs pores in oily acne prone skin types!!! I my self have had severe acne and I cane to know niacinamide is causing more breakouts and redness in ny skin😢
Not everything thst works for everyone could for you too!!

I started with 1% Niacinamide to test, and when it kind of worked fine moved up ahead to 5% and then 10%.
Using niacinamide with a salicylic acid face wash, and combining it with hyaluronic acid serum and sunscreen works good.
But of course, patch test first and then continue.
Also, niacinamide in itself wouldnt be able to help your skin. It has to be used with other combinations, especially use a moisturizer based on your skin type, and before you apply sunscreen. That's one thing i learnt through experience.

You should be doing niacinamide 10% together with Salicylic acid 1%. Im so happy that our local skincare company have these. It really lightens my skin & made my skin almost translucent (white+bluish tint). But i got too excited then I try combining it with vitamin C 10% for 3 nights & I got hyperpigmentation on my upper cheeks😂
The niacinamide 10% together with Salicylic 1% makes your skin so GOOOODD but dont mix with other strong actives.

Niacinamide works well for inflammation and spots...2% best usage...and when u start using it ur skin will purge first 2-3 weeks and when ur skin will get used to it .then ur acne will start healing...

Even I bought 10 % niacinamide from plum by looking at the positive comments from many people and my skin didnt irritate by applying but on 2 nd use only i got breakout...now I have stopped using it but anyway my acne isn't reducing and my dermat products aren't working too .. finally I have left with acne break out and empty pockets 😢 ..but im staying strong 😊

Niacinamide 10% worked for my oily skin and blackheads. I literally had no blackheads when I used it. It also slightly reduced my acne marks. I used a salicylic acid facewash to combat new acne, as niacinamide doesn't prevent breakouts.

No doubt 10 % niacinamide is safe for skin but not as a beginner.
Starting with a niacinamide based product for the first time, u must consider the concentration, it should be under 5 % then if it suites u can gradually increase the concentration.
Note: concentration can vary for different skin diffrent people so if 7-8 or any percentage irritates your skin consider regulating the concentration level by using more diluted version .
Hope it helps ❤
