The borders are weird. I worked at an ISP when the EU determined that paid for mobile apps should work in the entire EU. So our Dutch TV app worked on Saint Martin, part of the EU, but not on Sint Maarten. Same island

I went to St. Martin on a cruise and it was amazing. Granted it was still recovering after getting hit by a hurricane, it still was beautiful. The tour guide jokingly said we needed our passport when we crossed over to the French side, which we had left ours on the ship. I got swept up by a wave because its airport was right next to the water, getting me absolutely soaked on the ride back to the ship. The tour guide was a chill dude, even took a picture with me.

The funny part about St. Martin is the fact that the french side was far more affected by Hurricane Irma than the Dutch side
