David Gilmour has himself stated that the Comfortably Numb solo was comped. There's never been any mystery about this. David went on to say that it was part of his compositional style to take the best bits of "one-offs" to make better music. What's wrong with that when he can play the final result live for decades afterwards?

What a wonderful quote: ''I'm a fan of Dave's solos''. So am I
Please stop I love you both, and Nick and Rick and Syd

This warms my heart.
Despite the disputes and bickering, the respect for each other's talent remain untouched.
Real class.
I hope Dave watched this series

That was a bold question to ask Roger. Liked the insight Roger provided. Always to the point and no sugar coating. Can imagine why he is not fan of politicians 😊

"Nothing wrong with David Gilmour's solos." No kidding! 🤭 They're masterpieces. And who cares how many takes? It was him playing those takes. If they were edited into a solo, kudos to whoever did it -- they're brilliant pieces that we can all get to listen to on the album and live, because the man will render them pretty faithfully every time, and that's good.

Good to hear that you recognize David's contribution to Pink Floyd's music. David has given the ultimate compliment to you when he says your songwriting is "second to none". It's something to build on, if that's even possible now. Look forward to your version of the truth in your new memoir, Roger. I imagine many interviews and controversies will follow once it's released.

"Everyone threw their oar in." I like that expression. Looking forward to reading the memoir!

The solos for The Thin Ice and One of My Turns are so under appreciated because no one ever talks about them. They, along with a couple off Final Cut are my favorite guitar solos

It’s not that David’s playing was ever bad. He just would have many ideas to contribute and it’s the producers’ job to settle on what works best

I have big respect for both David Gilmour and Roger Waters! even if they don't get along sometimes, but what can't be denied is they both are musical geniuses and always will be part of the greatest band ever! IMO

I’m loving this series and can’t wait to read the memoir! Gilmour himself said in various interviews that these solos were edited from best takes. But there’s nothing wrong with this, recording and writing music is an iterative process, this doesn’t mean that he was playing random stuff until he made it right or someone put it together!!!

0:41 I love this comment, there’s so many different scenarios that Bob Ezrin has praised that he wasn’t even there for but tells it as he was there

Everything you say is what you are: honest, sincere, without subterfuge, a lover of mankind beyond belief. You throw yourself into battles without personal gain because you are a great man before being a King of music. You manage to put everything and every person back in their place, without betraying them with unnecessary malice: this is what makes you special! And that's why you receive intense and deep love from everyone who follows you. Thank you Sir: you have the extraordinary qualities of a wise King. This is why Heaven has given you the ability to change the World with your Music ❤💙❤️‍🔥🔥

It's so hard to imagine you actually comp such great solos together. It always sounds like one piece, can't recall hearing any kind of traces in sustains and all that. This cutting and comping is a masterwork in its own rights then.

Aside from my utmost respect for Syd Barrett, and what he did for me as a teenager. Sculpting my identity, and fashion choices. Roger Waters genius as a Musician, is just indescribable for me. His songs still give me goosebumps, and often make me cry. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve listened to certain songs or albums. Just beautiful works of art, that seem absolutely perfect.

I have never doubted Roger's consideration of David's guitar work for The Floyd. They have been at logger heads for a long time, but the both of them know how good the other was/is.
