Definitely not fluent in Māori so some of this could be wrong, but what I picked up is it’s kind of like a song of healing and dealing with hardship and loss. “Let’s go back, my river, my river” and “I was led away to my river, I adore you” but some parts may be wrong as I’m currently learning te reo Māori. Stan mentioned it touches on themes of identity, the loss of his father, and his healing process through it all.

Amazing reaction, Zack! You should definitely check out “Human” by Stan if you haven’t already. It’s a song that definitely touches on some pretty serious topics and his journey with mental illness and substance abuse, but it’s beautiful.
