It is interesting seeing bands progress like this. Slipknot has definitely gotten more complex over time. Other bands like Disturbed and As I Lay Dying have done this over time, regardless of how one feels about them.

I always found slipknot riffs to be super angular and counter intuitive. Couldn't really get them down as I got older. The self titled album I had a few tracks down, as like a 14 year old. Now as a washed up 30 something, I can play Death songs but can't get my head around the way these guys attack a song.

Honestly love every Slipknot album guitar wise even if I grew up with IOWA and VOL.3!
Vocals on the last album were too soft for me I’d say, so All Out Life is a bit à fresh air haha
