"I've been here for 20 years". "So how do you like it?"
Actually, any person of any sex and nationality would be pissed off after hearing this small talk over and over.

Guys. Remember one thing. NOBODY SAYS NA ZDOROVIE WHILE DRINKING IN RUSSIA! I mean it. Literally nobody. We do say ZA zdorovie however.
Za zdorovie! = To your health!
Na zdorovie! = You are welcome!
I have no idea why that girl said otherwise, maybe she really has been in Canada for last 20 years and just forgot how it is, haha.

I’m Russian from Siberia and lived in US for 20 years. I remember when in High School I had to mark on application my race: Caucasian, Asian or African.
At that time 20 years ago Russia was at war with Chechnya and their terrorist organizations, a country in Caucus mountain. So, I concluded that I’m definitely not from there, therefore, I skipped Caucasian, and marked Asian. My teacher was very surprised and asked me why I marked Asian. I told her that I’m actually Siberian, therefore Asian.
I don’t ever get upset about questions about Russia no matter how weird they get. I feel that’s a great opportunity to tell others everything good about Russia.
When people say these comments they just signal how little they know and want to know more.
I remember one doctor asking me what do I think about Putin.
I told him that I don’t know him personally, so I don’t know much.

Omg, this is so true! I am Russian living in the USA and I am pretty tired from people asking to translate stuff (including na zdorovie), telling me those 3 words they know(sometimes they are offensive), joking about vodka, and also joking about me being a spy (this is probably more of an American thing), being cold is also something that Americans find ridiculous. And yes, I have never had vodka in my life, this is probably the most annoying stereotype.
But don't get me wrong, I am excited to share my culture and talk about Russia, but there is a big difference between stupid/stereotypical jokes and a real conversation! :)
