The story of Fontaine is pure tragedy.
• At 0:41
- You can see (left to right)
- Allain, the creator of Seymoire (That camera dog), also the founder of Fontaine Research Institute. He is Mary-ann's older brother if I'm not wrong.
- Mary-ann, the original form of Mary and Ann which are the princess and the oceanid.
- Basil, the navy of Fontaine, is the vice president of Orphanage.
- Jakob, the one who studied the Abyss power so he can take the form of Abyss Herald
- Rene, Narzissenkreuz, the evil oceanid. In fact, he isn't evil at all. He just tries to save people in his own way. I would rather call him a false hero.
- The oceanid behind is Lyris, the president of Orphanage.
• At 0:55
- 500 years ago, due to Celestia's order, Egeria, the previous Hydro Archon has to go outside of Fontaine and it's the exact same time that Elynas, the dragon in Fontaine was making trouble (We will know later that he is not an evil dragon). Since there is a corpse of Elynas, I assume he also died in this fight and his parts of body created Melusine. That's why the painter Melusine calls him Father.
- And we will know later that Egeria never come back again. She chooses Focalors to be the next Archon at 1:14.
• At 1:08
- Since there was no protector, Basil who was the navy of Fontaine has to fight it herself and ended up dying. That's the end of Orphanage as you can see Lyris is alone in 1:45. Allain and Mary-ann grow up and be Marechaussee Phantom as you can see at 1:41, you can think of them as police officers. Cater is Allain's assistant at this time.
• At 1:25
- Rene studied and knew the fate of Fontaine so he and Jakob tried to stop that fate as we can see in the world quest from Traveller's perspective.
• At 1:39
- The Sword of Narzissenkreuz is the ritual item used for separate the mind from the body. Narzissenkreuz ordo used this sword somehow. Since there is no cutscene for how it works, we can assume it works similar to primordial sea water but there is still something related to Khaenri'ah too so that's why it's related to Cater's curse.
• At 2:00
- Their organization, Narzissenkreuz ordo (They used the name of their Orphanage), wasn't that ethical. Jakob dissolved people to achieve his goal.
• At 2:04 and 2:32
- That's why Marechaussee Phantom is ordered to arrest Narzissenkreuz ordo.
• At 2:33
- Rene was also dissolved and ended up being the boss, Narzissenkreuz as we can see at 2:52. That way, he can achieve his goal even after centuries.
• At 2:35
- Allain fought Rene even though all he can do is to chase him away. That's why Rene in oceanid form is in primordial sea. But in the meantime, Mary-ann fought Jakob and she was disappeared. People thought she was dissolved.
- There is a theory that Lyris tried to save her and merged into her consciousness to be the princess Mary as we can see in the world quest. The story of Narzissenkreuz ordo they had been through and fairy tales Lyris used to tell her kids make the story of "Ann" and "Mary-ann". I think that's why Ann in the world quest wants to save the princess Mary-ann. Because her last thought as Lyris is to save Mary-ann, her daughter. But that way, both of them lost their individual selves and became another consciousness.
• At 2:36
- Cater is cursed and turned to be a hilichurl.
- The symptom is different from others. May be connected to Arlecchino somehow.
• At 3:19
- In the end, only Cater remains as the original. I'm not sure if he's from Narzissenkreuz Orphanage or not. If he is, then he is the sole survivor from Narzissenkreuz. If he is not, then every member of Narzissenkreuz is dead.
- Allain left only Seymoire, the machine dog that he created and ordered it to protect his sister, that's why Seymoire left the Melusine to find Mary-ann once. Allain died from old age.
- Mary-ann and Lyris were turned into different consciousness.
- Jakob died in the quest Narzissenkreuz. Yes, that hole at 3:22. Hope you all remember, there is also a cutscene in the game.
- Rene was dissolved so we can say he is no longer Rene after 500 years ago and Narzissenkreuz which is a fragment of his consciousness is also dead in the world quest.
- And yes, Basil was dead 500 years ago.

Apart from this, we can see in the quests. There are also lots of small details but I'm too lazy. Like, Jakob in Abyss Herald form trying to steal the power of Elynas but we can stop him in the world quest of painter Melusine. We can also see Basil's ship that killed Elynas while exploring. Well, I tried to edit and add more and more details so it's this long already lol.

Maybe, if Khaenri'ah incident wasn't happened, Egeria can stop all of these. Maybe if Basil wasn't dead, the kids wouldn't walk this way. It's way worse knowing after this that all of them do not have to suffer this way. There is no real villain in this arc. They just want to save Fontaine, that's all.

Hope people who do not read all of the quests understand what is happening in the video a little more. It's all connected.

Fun Fact: Since Allain who was once Marechaussee Phantom is the founder of Fontaine Research Institute and he is a genius inventor, that's why Marechaussee Hunter set is in machine theme. We can say that this OP set is his invention too.

I just fucking can't. This vid is too perfect, from start to beginning.

Egeria founding Fontaine and its nation, her sacrifice during the Cataclysm, Focalors learning that she is now to shoulder the burden of saving her nation from the Prophecy, Furina taking up the masquerade she didn't even fully understand... The Traveller serving as the catalyst of the final act, Focalors' final dance and Furina's departure...

And all that intertwined with the Narzissenkreuz arc, admiral Elton's sacrifice against Elynas, Caterpillar's cameo...

It actually makes me wonder - how much of Narzissenkreuz's story was also part of Focalors' plan? At first glance, those two arcs don't overlap too much... But Vacher used Jakob's notes and his research on the Primordial Sea to kickstart his own plan. And if the Traveller and Navia didn't expose that plot, a lot of events that led up to the Sinner's Finalle would not have happened - starting from the very simple fact that the heroes had to know about the Primordial Seawater to use its properties to expose Furina's act...

Plus both Rene and Focalors wanted to save Fontaine... In their own ways. One by dissolving the people and hoping a new world will emerge from the Primordial Seawater again, the other by betting on Furina and Neuvillette to find a way to circumvent the Prophecy.

Also, it's incredible how well some scenes fit the lyrics. "Please live the life I never had" is the obvious one, but "I'll find a way to end this alright now" when Focalors explains her plan to Furina and "You'll find a way to approve of me" when Neuvillette looks upon Opera Epiclesse... All in all, the Hydro Sovereign had every reason to oppose the Hydro Archon and try to regain his powers on his own, and Furina had every reason to try to break the masquerade to save herself... But neither did so.

And finally, the reprise of "Is this war, is this fate" when the Traveller arrives to Fontaine. Just like Egeria departing to Sumeru changed the fate of Fontaine forever, so has the Traveller's arrival from Sumeru. Both ended in the Archon's demise, both are book ends to this chapter of Fontaine's story.

Oh, and Focalors' dance, ending with that sword enclosed in a droplet of water splashing against Furina's shoulder... All in all, nobody (apart from Neuvillette) witnessed Focalors' death, and as impactful as that even has been (and I hope Genshin writers will keep up the momentum it gave the story), it passed pretty much unnoticed by anyone...

God, I really hope future Fontaine content will expand on Egeria's story and the time Focalors' was active as the Archon.

While I was watching this MV, it reminded me of what happened to Furina before her trial is the opposite of Nahida. In the Sumeru AQ, unexpected people teamed up to save the Dendro Archon, but in Fontaine, the opposite is also true. A lot of Fontaine heroes teamed up to capture Furina and force the truth out of her to save themselves and the nation from the Prophecy. What the Traveller didn't realized that what he learned from Sumeru and applied to Fontained will be the catalyst for the final act of the prophecy.

I want to point out one thing, spoiler of course
At the end of the video, a water drop with the execution blade inside fell on Furina's shoulder. As we all have known, that same blade killed Focalors, in a sense, Focalors was a part of Furina and the same one that placed the fate of saving Fontaine by acting on her (she altered fate itself so I don't think I'm that far off). I'd like to think that this shows that Focalors thinks of her divinity and responsibility or herself is a burden to Furina and that drop of water is hers (just like the drop that showed Furina her last words). The image is that the execution blade drop on Furina, end Focalors and finally lifting the burden of her shoulder.
