Sir, One more thing also I would definitely like to mention, i.e., application of A.C. voltage can result into measurement of the impedance concerned, not really the resistance in deed .

Sir, One very generalized approach in this regard, is that - to check whether the Insulation is capable to sustain the stress imposed by the Voltage without actually breaking down, the stress itself must be of continuous nature which is truly not possible in case of A.C. .
