The thing i liked about ssj4 is that it actually incorporated the most interesting aspect of the sayian physiology. Its crazy that they did nothing with the great ape form after the Saiyan saga.

I find it really weird that the legendary super Saiyan, had nothing to do with the great ape transformation. Frieza calling sayians filthy monkeys and then having him being defeated by a tailess sayian just felt like a missed opportunity.

SSJ4 is still the best looking transformation to date. Pretty much shows the saiyans primal power in humanoid form.

And the design they came up with was absolute perfection.

To date, there isn't an SSJ design that comes close to capturing the imposing presence and power of the SSJ4.

Just remember that SSJ4 was later drawn by Akira Toriyama as a way to honor the original designer of SSJ4.

When I first saw supersayain 4 Goku for the first time I was 11 years old. I couldn’t recognize him since his hair wasn’t golden like a supersayain but he had a tail and his face looked a lot like Goku. Best epic transformation yet. Even as a fusion this form has even looks better with red hair

While Toriyama did draw Super Saiyan 4 Goku once, I still think Nakatsuru's drawings are better.

It's also nice that Goku being a kid again made a bigger impact with his Super Saiyan 4 form as he had lost control over some of his abilities and had worse stamina, but when he transforms into Super Saiyan 4, the issues are seemingly fixed, he becomes stupendously stronger and faster, and he even gets a little extra too.

Plus the obvious size difference, the Great Ape-based details, and the variation in colors for Super Saiyan 4. It's truly the ultimate form of the Saiyans in the original TV anime continuity.

Super Saiyan 4 should have been called something else because it just looks like a base form transformation that all Saiyans should be able to do to increase their power. I think super saiyan god form in super should have just been 4 and then blue should have been the 4 form with a red aura and flowing hair (like super saiyan flowing hair)

Also, a Plus, from what I renember, ssj4 red fur was supossed to be grey
