Can we define which direction we take to be positive for each question with an arrow instead of permanently treating anticlockwise as positive and clockwise as negative?

Sir, isn't clockwise= positive and anticlockwise = negative? Im just confused as the aqa a level maths book says clockwise direction is taken to be positive but at 1:00 you take the anticlcockwise moment to be positive

In our final answer is it acceptable to leave it as x NM or -x NM instead of stating whether it is clockwise or anticlockwise because my teachers say you need to state whether it is clockwise or anticlockwise in your final answer.
