The Lunge is an excellent movement for building up the lower body.

It specifically targets the quadriceps as the primary mover when extending the knee throughout the exercise. The hamstrings are also activated, along with the glutes, calves, and muscles of the foot and ankle.

Additionally, other muscles such as the core, the lower back, and the hip flexors may also be activated to maintain form and balance during a lunge.
