I'm 48 now and I started my RC interest just here recently because I'm no longer able to hold a FAA flight medical because I crashed in a UH-60 Blackhawk I was piloting just outside of Basra Iraq and with 8 back surgeries the FAA doesn't like ppl taking pain meds and flying so I picked up RC to be able to fly. I'm not really sure what's going on as I'm starting to see these video from Horizon to Flite Test to others and it sounds concerning enough to chat with my brother who works with the FAA in Oklahoma City. This is a very fun hobby and now my 11 year old daughter just loves it.

I submitted my (polite) input to the FAA. And I won’t be complying... on the plus side, I DO signal my turns and lane changes when driving. 🙂

Comment away. It’s just another box for them to check. I’ve commented every time since the FAA decided they had a Right to govern model aviation at all and its never made a damn bit of difference. The government wants control over all aspects of your life. Asking them nicely to please stop is like pissing into the wind.

I commented, I am a medically retired Marine, it is my life line, I enjoyed the hobby for years before joining the Marines, I enjoyed it during my service and enjoy it now. One of the things I was medically discharged for is PTSD after six tours in Vietnam, it made me pull away from every thing and every one, model airplanes brought me back to being able to be around people, people who have an interest same as i do. Model aviation is a life saver to many it is the treatment needed to get away from his or her problem. If the FAA brings these regulation into force, I for one can not afford the required electronics, nor the continued yearly registration cost, the hobby is pricing itself out as it is, another expense will only add to the death of his hobby AMA has priced it's self out, cost of airplanes out rages, club dues it all adds up to put many of us out of the hobby, one more cost will end my flying. We used to have the right to life, liberty, and the "pursuit of happiness", WE USED TO HAVE.

Hello, My name is Michael, and I've been flying for two years. Flying works so well for me, because I truly enjoy fly, and to be honest, I can't see myself doing anything else. I started flying to relieve the pain that I have, due to having Fibromyalgia, and chronic back pain. Thank you Horizon Hobby for being here for us...

I have commented, and strongly recommend that everyone involved in this hobby do likewise.

Surely an organization like the FAA will realize how many jobs that are effected in this industry. There has to be room in this world for every one. We are trusting you will make a correct decision. So many of our lives depend on it. Don't let us down. Thanks

Consider a young boy who grew up in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He has a great curiosity and interest in aviation and model airplanes. His mother buys him a 5¢ model airplane, and the boy soon is flying larger and more advanced model airplanes. He becomes a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and participates in model aircraft competitions from 1946-1950. He later becomes the first man to walk on the moon, Neil A. Armstrong.

Neil wrote, "My model building and flying activities significantly contributed to my interest in aeronautics and was a primary force in directing my education in aeronatical engineering."

Now consider youth of today, embued with that same wonder, ambition, and spark of imagination that Neil had as a boy. Yet because of unreasonable procedural and cost-prohibitive technical requirements imposed by the federal government, some of these ambitious young people may not be able to pursue their dreams, to explore their imagination, to experience the freedom of flight on their own. Not even from a remote farm in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

I'm 57 years old and new to the Hobby of RC flying. I bought an E-flite Apprentice S 2 years ago and have been learning to fly ever since. As a result even my best friend bought an RC aircraft. I've been able to use my knowledge of avionics and aerodynamics to repair both aircraft it has allowed me to become a pilot after a sort. I've met some great people. 2 / regulate this hobby would be disastrous.

Everyone needs to fight this, especially the clubs. I recommend boycotting any club that isnt advocating against this global airspace grab.
