FAA Remote ID Final Ruling for Drones Explained

The FAA REMOTE ID Final Rule makes my drone a paperweight, or does it? What is Required and When is it Happening? What does this mean for Drone, UAV and RC Pilots and How is it being implemented? Finally on 12/28/2020 the rule showed up. I break the New Rules down and compare it against some of the NPRM here and for reference, the final rule establishes a new Part 89 Title 14 in the Code of Regulations. Looking for your comments on issues that have not been thoroughly detailed by the FAA so we can compile a list and get answers. Even if your question is asked in the comments, be sure to add your own as this will tell me which ones have the most interest and if we should inquire further. I couldn't help but add some of my own opinions but I think they are relevant to the discussion but my opinions are my own. I invite civil comments and discussion but rude or crude comments will get you banned from commenting on the channel in the future.

-Does the FAA REMOTE ID Final Rule MAKE my Unmanned Aircraft a PAPERWEIGHT? Who does it apply to? What is Required and When is it Happening? What does this mean for Drone, UAV and RC Pilots and How is it being implemented?

KEEP IN MIND that although I use the term "drone" often and interchangeably with "UAV". This is meant to include all UAVs including RCs, copters, quads, FPVs, etc., as ALL need to comply to this rule equally.

Thank you for watching! Good Flying!

If my location can be seen then the location of those tracking me should be seen by me.

Time to get back into model rockets... after all, they only fly up to an altitude of about 1, 800 ft at around 125mph. Much safer!

I will be hovering my Mavic everyday inside of my house without remote ID, just to annoy trackers.

Thank goodness I live for the most part in a drone friendly and curious state. 99% of the time people are interested. The 1% I have to educate or move on if we don't see eye to eye which is very rare. NC.

Thanks for the vid. I wouldn't every worry about remote id. You can ask 1000 ppl who don't know anything about drones what remote id is. Not 1 person will know. Fly on !

Thank you for all the time you've put into this. It's obvious this is your passion. You've done a lot of work for all of us to explain this on a level that everyone can understand. I appreciate what you're doing. Once again, thank you! In God's loving service, Pastor Bob.

I just bought a Mini 2, and because I'm a law-abiding kind of guy (within reason) I'm trying to catch up on all the rules and regs. For me this is a very useful and informative video. Clear, concise, and no wasted time. Thanks.

Don't pretend that these rules are not designed to protect Amazon, UPS etc..

We will not accept these rules to over control the rc hobby and make us all criminals!

Thanks so much for all of the work that it must have taken to summarize this information in such a concise and understandable manner. Your efforts are really appreciated. I thought that my RC Helicopter flying days were over before I clocked enough experience for my flying time to exceed my repairing time lol. You've given me hope that it might be a bit easier to achieve compliance than I had initially thought.

Thank you, Keith, for your valuable time and professional efforts in keeping us well informed and highly aware of existing rules/regulations/laws and things to come! Without people like you representing the Non-nefarious masses, some or most of us would be running in circles trying to figure it all out. Greatly appreciated!!

I watched a number of other videos over the last day on this topic. I appreciate everybody who quickly jumps on these issues to save so many of us all the reading.

Having said that, out of every one I watched, this was the most clear and concise. Thank you for all your work, Keith.

I’d be upset & discouraged about this ludicrous FAA overreach... if I had any plans to comply. 😎

I'll add corrections or additions here as I find them, one of the problems with slamming a video out fast!
1) The remote ID timeline of 18 months after the 60 days of implementation is for the industry. The individual implementation is 30 months after that initial 60 days. Thanks to Jeremy Eskelsen
for pointing that out.

I appreciate what your doing. I ordered a drone and have been reading up after the purchase thinking I was going to receive something I couldn’t fly. Your giving me some hope.
