If you’re purchasing a used vehicle, look for signs of a rollback. Are the brake pedals worn? Is the steering wheel tattered, but the car only has 40,000 miles?

The mechanic is the real scam! He let his customer pay $17, 000 fixing a worthless pile of crap!

I disliked because they don’t actually show how to identify if your odometer has been rolled back. Clickbait.

Even if that old Jag didn't have a rollback it would still be a money pit to fix and keep running.

Thanks you just told 55K people how to rollback miles. 🙄

The best way to know there was a rollback on the car is to check its VIN history of maintenance, every time you get an oil change with reputable businesses or an auto repair, those businesses report what miles the car was checked up on.

Your biggest saving grace is a PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION! On literally any used car you're interested in. Without one, any car can be a mess of trouble. I wish I had taken my own advice when buying our 2009 Lexus, 85k miles and it had 200k miles worth of issues before getting it repaired. If I had bought an inspection, I would have been a lot better off. Lexus are great cars! Any car can have problems with lack of maintenance, that's exactly what happened to my car. Let my stupidity save you a headache. 🙏

I love how in the end he says to check the steering wheel and brake paddle like those can't be replace in under 5 minutes.

My 2008 wrangler only has 45, 000 miles on it. The engine is in great condition but the rest of the Jeep shows it’s age. So wear and tear isn’t always an accurate tell tale sign. I’ve just never lived more than a few miles from work, and I don’t like to go anywhere lol

No real advice, they taught other people how to roll it back lol

I’m a lady looking to buy a decent used car. Every single day I see a car that I strongly suspect has been rolled back. People flipping cars will routinely replace the brake pedals for newer ones to throw u off the scent of a scam. Never buy a used car without having it inspected by a good mechanic. PAY for this service. If the seller won’t let u take the car to a proper mechanic at a garage then pay a mechanic to examine the car at the seller’s place. If a seller doesn’t want a mechanic inspecting his car then leave - you just got a free answer as to if the car has real problems. This goes for small car lots AND dealerships, unfortunately.

AND where is the law that put thief in jail for this? It's clearly a fraud and should be punished to the fullest. Oh, I forgot politicians are driving brand new cars with taxpayers' money, so they don't even care.

I bought a vehicle, I know it was rolled back. I discovered the original milage on an old oil change sticker, I found in the vehicle.

and you just told every dealer to replace worn steering wheels and gas pedals, lol. Before buying a car, just spend the extra cash to get a true mechanics inspection. If the dealer even gives a hint of fear or tries to talk his sale into your soul with bs after you mention it, abort, unless he gives a good deal. Generally, what I don't see online is the fact that most dealers, their main goal is double their money on the blue book price. So if the car is 14, 000, they most likely bought it for 7, 000. Doesn't mean you can low ball them, unless you absolutely know what you're talking about. Insulting a dealer won't get you that car, you want a dealer to respect your knowledge and candor

Each state should move quickly and aggressively to enact much tougher penalties for odometer tampering. Would-be scammers will think twice if they know they're risking a MANDATORY 7-year MINIMUM prison sentence without parole plus a $50, 000 fine. Write a letter to your state congress representative and DEMAND they take action on this growing problem.

There's also crooks that install switches on their car to turn off\on their ODO, especially if it is a lease (to avoid paying lease overage miles). It's harder to detect, because they'll have the ODO turned on only one week per month, so the mileage is still going up, but is much less than the real mileage. Carfax won't detect this either.

There is many ways actually to find out if the oddmeter rollback... As they said the steering wheel... Driver The most important thing is the condition and how clean is the metrial of the engine and under the body... The exusust tube... Those things can tell how long this car been driving

Don't get the Carfax from the dealership, they can change the millage in their computer system so the one they show you may also be incorrect. Just pay for your own.
