The hair looks great!! especally for not having any experience. I've been dying my hair for over 12 years, (since I was 8, thats crazy) and I'll never stop. I've started cutting my own hair in the past few years, becauase no hairdresser ever did it quite right. and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I can't express to people how much it means to me to be able to make my hair my own when so many other parts of my identity feel lost

Hi Garrett! I’m a licensed hairstylist, I absolutely love this light copper/strawberry blonde on you! But if you want a cooler toned blonde you can counter the brassy orange/copper tones with a blue tinted toner, but please don’t use box dyes as they aren’t regulated and can contain heavy metals that will be absorbed by your scalp. I’d say something from Sally’s beauty supply store like Wella Colorcharm toner in the color T28, or Ion white creme toner in Platinum pearl or platinum lace, or Bondbar in color cool ash or Smokey blonde. For a shampoo like toner I’d suggest Blonde Brilliance Temporary Color Care Cool Blond Lathering Toner. I look forward to your hair journey! I always watch your videos they always make me laugh, they help me keep going sometimes, keep being awesome and keep taking care of yourself.

I’m a licensed cosmetologist, and honestly it came out a lot more even than I thought it would. You didn’t do a bad job!! But if you want it to be lighter you need to do another round of bleach because purple shampoo won’t make it lighter, it will simply neutralize the brassy color in your hair. Also since you were confused about not putting it on your roots first, the reason you put it on the rest of your hair first and not the roots right away is because the heat from your scalp will make the roots process faster, which will make it lighter than the rest of your hair if you put it all on at once. But it lightened pretty evenly 😊 For a first timer, you did pretty good!

.. you did a dream job applying it evenly!!! It does look great!! A few tips just for reference if you want to go even blonder!! First start at the ends leave that on for 20ish mins then do you roots closest to your scalp. You probably didn't leave it on long enough or it was a lower developer. Either way that's ok!!! You always learn from experience, right? I'd suggest fanola shampoo from Amazon. I have white hair and I use it when I get brassy. I've used just about every purple shampoo out there. You'd probably be better off with a blue shampoo unless you go little lighter. Blue cancels orange and purple cancels yellow. Also you're hairs not that dark so if you put on a cap or even a plastic bag to keep the head warm it'll process a little faster. Mine takes 50mins. You can also try getting a powder and either a 20 vol developer or a 30 vol. Do not use 40 on scalp. You can also use a toner but thats a little more complicated then leaving on shampoo for 10 mins. Make sure you keep up with conditioning treatments so you keep your hair healthy!!! It looks so good and it looks very healthy!! I've seen alot worse on ppl who have experience so give yourself a huge pat on the back!!! It is fun to do with a friend or a mirror to see the back of your head.
