@Convolver - instead of the AI silicon area, what about instructions per unit of silicon area per unit time? That might be the product of two power curves.

This might have been eye opening a decade ago. Plus Moore's law is not dead. We're just getting started. Prepare for 64 core CPU, gpu and RAM on one die within the next decade, that will be as powerful as today's top end computer that will fit in a slim laptop.

The log graph he shows is basically flat (aka exponential growth at the same rate) since 1985. Definitely flat since 2000. So Moore's prediction of doubling every 2 years wasn't exactly right, that doesn't mean the exponential growth is slowing

People are all hoo haa about AI seems like they were in the 50s too and probably will be again in 50 years. Automation logic and sensors does not equal AI.
