Marshall MOSFET 100 Reverb - BUY IT if you find it!!

I'm playing a killer 1989 Marshall Model 5100 MOSFET 100 Reverb. This amp nails so many classic tones. This amp is still really cheap. It actually does a great Hiwatt tone, which Marshall amps usually don't. I'm playing it with a Nordin Comet Krystin guitar with a Gibson Burstbucker 2 in the bridge. I've added some of the Cubase Phaser on some of the riffs, as well as some UA Riland Space echo on some.

More of my videos featuring this amp:

And MOSFET 100 LEAD which is the head version of this amp minus the reverb:

Deffo the best solid state amp they ever made.
Marshall should consider to build these again with a class A/B powerstage for more power at high resistance load and even closer to tube response, and add an IR output with the option to load custom IR’s.

Just did one of these after having never played or heard one. I was always curious about them as a kid bc they were almost within reach, but it never happened. One came through the shop for restoration and I was honestly impressed with how great it sounded.

Sounds great! Really sparkling. I’m glad to see that your nephew is now demonstrating cabs and not just heads.

I've been looking for one for a while now. Don't show up too often where I look, and wont be any easier to find after this video.
You made it sound great, as usual. Thanks Johan, and regards to your new co-worker!

I bought a 1987 Marshall MOSFET Lead 100 head years ago and love it. Great line of amps.

I wasn't expecting the slight twang and all the nice cleans! I like it!

The G12H-100 might be what makes this amp so special. I wonder what that speaker would sound like in something like a MG series solid state amp. That time you made a MG sound like a JCM800 blew my mind! Keep up the great work!! I love these videos that showcase amps we'd normally pass on.

I love the Marshall solid state amps of the 80s, imo they managed to capture some of that Marshall magic you find in the tube offerings!

Great video again Johan! Thanks!

I loved the sound of all the amp models you showed us from the series.

I had one of these in a head back in the day. Marshall called it a mini stack and they were paired with 4x10 cabinets. They sounded OK at lower volumes but turned up loud, and more importantly, when the MOSFET's got hot the tone changed, and not for the better.

Pretty good Marshall, sounds great and being solid state there's not the hassle with the tubes as costly maintenance and worrying for damage too much. I think the Mosfet has a sound of its own, still has good compression like a tube Marshall, and also very versatile and dynamic. Thanks Johan!

Thanks Johan. I picked up the 2x12 5213 version of this a few years ago as a live poweramp/cab for a Kemper. I was actually surprised how good it sounds by itself. The 2x12 is a much more full sounding beast.

Johan, you are the best at taking any stank that people throw at Marshall ss amps away.

Sounds great! That was a special time in history when the manufacturers actually tried to make good solid state amps instead of just marking all SS as bedroom practice amps and therefore - garbage.

Amazing tones as usual. The intros with your nephew always bring a smile to my face. I thought you'd make it all the way thru before he flipped the bird or something else. Today, it was something else! 🤣 God bless and rock on 🎸👍

Johan your playing is improving by making all these video's 😂 You sound great 👍

I have the 75 watt version. I love it. Most of Marshall's mid-late 80's solid state amps sounded great. They should bring them back.

A really good versatile amplifier for its size. Nice tone as well. Dialed in with the right guitar it could work.
Thanks Johan. Cheers from Hawaii
