SAILING around the world in a TINY boat! Meet Yann Quenet, a Frenchman who designed and built his 4m yacht in his garage and decided to sail around the world... I had the privilege of chatting to him when he arrived in Richards Bay after a gruelling sail from Reunion Island, around the southern part of Madagascar.

Why is he doing this? Because it's been his childhood dream and he wants to meet new people.... Is he crazy? Some may say so. Yann is the most humble, down to earth person I have met in a long time and I love that he is always smiling and full of the joy of life!

In this video you will see inside his tiny home and find out how he sails with only one mast. He also explains the design of his boat and how he built it.

If you would like to follow his adventures and completing his circumnavigation, please check him out on Facebook or on his website.

Thanks for watching!

Much love,
Moya, Charlotte and Robin

I live in a nice house, I have a nice car, I’ve put two kids through college and am working on the youngest getting through college. I’m comfortable in a way I never though I would be and I’m so jealous of this man with a 13 foot boat. I’m jealous of the courage he has and the ability he has. The more you own, the more it owns you!! Sail on sir!!

77 days on a 13 foot boat, if that isn't worthy of following his journey . Wow how did know he had no radio , phone or anything electronics . He didn't even seem to be bothered much by his failing solar panels . I give him him a score of eleven out of ten . Sail on sail on sailor .

The most significant indication that this guy is not crazy, is his constant smiling!
He is absolutely happy with where he is in his life!
Great story.

I'm living on a 25 foot sailboat, I'll remember him when I feel like I need a bigger boat.

I’m surprised that Yann’s huge balls haven’t sunk that boat yet. He is a brave man. Best to him and thank you for sharing this with us. Cheers from Fenders Junction, Colorado. USA.

So great to see that Yann is doing great. I met him in Tahiti in 2020. He is one of a kind! Always smiling. It's like no matter how hard the journey is, Yann faces it with no fear. Hope to see him again soon in Brittany. (BTW thanks for the video)

The blunt bow is still used on River Bateau's in France, its design allowed a boatman to steer and manage the craft.Back then a working boat hauling freight and passengers. Now they can yet be seen now Sailing as pleasure craft with roomy cabins.Another region to use blunt bow was
In rivers and swamps of south eastern United States. Some was built separately from main haul to make repairs easier.

Far out! I admire those who hold on to the old ways of no radio, no fuel dependence.
