When Pride Fighting Championships folded in 2007, several of it's former executives reunited to form a new promotion to fill it's void, but found nostalgia alone wasn't enough for long term success. Today we look at what went wrong for Pride's spiritual successor.

The old days of going into a JB Hi-Fi store, and finding a big sports section of DVDs with a lot of PRIDE, K-1 and Dream, all for about $10. Good times. Bought all the Dream DVDs I saw from 7-13 and the K-1 Dynamite shows

DREAM had to die for RIZIN to be born. And RIZIN is a much better promotion!

They could never replace PRIDE but DREAM introduced new stars to the MMA world (Mayhem Miller, Shinya Aoki, Bibiano Fernandes, Joe Warren, Eddie Alvarez, Will Brooks, etc). And they gave us the Super Hluk belt (indirectly). DREAM has made it's mark in MMA history but the lack of soccer kicks are what stopped it from achieving it's full potential IMO.
