Idk the designs are kinda rad imo I always looked at it as the Zelda one has it because it’s like link’s belt and Mario maker has it because it’s like the bricks you break.

2ds belts are honestly one of the most genius ways to make a DS seem more like a character. (In this example, Link and Builder Mario.)

I actually like the color lines that go through the back. I feel like it balances out the color themes on the console. I also like how the stylus is the same color as the line.

I personally like the brown stripe on the legend of zelda console as it’s reminiscent of links clothing colors as for the Mario it could’ve been red but it matches his shoes hair color so it’s not that big of a deal. Not like ing the brown stripe just sounds like nitpicking.
