Rumor has it the #iPhone12 might ship without Apple's EarPods headphones or AC power adapter. If true, what are the possible cost savings, environmental impact, and potential for a port-less iPhone future?

It would make more sense from a marketing standpoint, that they make the charger a delete option when you buy the phone and then discount the total price if you take the option

I think the most expensive part of the adaptor & headphones is the space in the box. Without them the box can be 75% thinner and 4 boxes can ship in the same space of one. 1/4th the jet fuel cost, 1/4 the number the pilots, 1/4 the ground infrastructure across the Pacific & 1/4 all the trucks across the country.

In all seriousness I hope to god this is just Apple that found out a bunch of sources and is trolling us all, why the hell would you make a phone and not let people charge it? What if you were selling your charger and your phone to upgrade? They should just sell a version without accessories that’s just the phone for less.

Everyone has USB chargers, even if they are switching from Android, but I think they need to at least include a lighting cable.
As for headphones, everyone has them, but not necessarily lightning headphones, so either include them, or the lightning to 3.5mm adapter.

As far as the iPhone goes, just give us USB-C already and be done with it. It should have been on the iPhone X going forward.
Yes wireless charging is nice, but there might be a situation when you need to charge your phone and you don’t have a wireless pad, you need a cord. Doing away with the port won’t let you do that. And putting a smart connector on it will only mean you’ll need yet another specialized cord in order to charge it. People want the ability to charge their electronic devices with a cord.
So give us USB-C, one cord with the came connector on each end with the ability to charge all of your Apple devices. Period. 🙂

I think it would be nice if they gave us the choice to have headphones or a charger in the box just like having the choice between 64 and 256 GB with the prices matching my configuration.

I'm an Android user and I was actually thinking about switching to IOS but with no charger and no headphones that's a turn off for me

Just as Apple have introduced more reasonably priced phones such as the SE to entice Android users they sell a phone with no charger at all? That doesn't sound very smart and not very likely.

I could see them altering iPhone buy process to be be like apple watch and build to order: and something similar with power.
