This a classic example of Romans not being ashamed of adapting the technologies of other peoples for their gains. One of the most important factors in the Roman Empire's longevity in my opinion.

The Roman occupation of Britain definitely wasn't "for a while". Imagine you haven't kicked them out and the British would still own the US. And now double that time. Four centuries is a very long time. Even the 97 years it would take the Romans to return to Britain, between Caesar's expedition and Claudius's one, is extremely long. Countries are created, flourish and dissolve over the course of a single century.
