Why Lisa's Solo Career Isn't Working

Lisa's VMA performance left many disappointed. Billboard and The New York post dubbed it as the worst performance of the night!

Lisa is better as a great dancer/performer but she's not much of a singer. She does well being an influencer and ambassador in fashion and modelling so she will continue to succeed in those areas more than being a solo artist which is solely focused on the music

I think there are some idols who work better in a group and some better solo. Lisa is one who works better in a group rather then solo

To be honest rockstar won over seven and lalala or super shy was kinda sus. I mean her song was good. But the other kpop songs were way too good.

To be honest, she’s flopping… I didn’t like “Rockstar, ” and most people didn’t like it either. It just gets boring if you keep overdoing it by constantly talking about yourself or hearing her name all the time. Some parts of her songs didn’t make sense. “Woman” was actually good and had a meaningful message behind it, but the truth is, everyone knows what she actually sounds like when she’s singing. She’s not a vocalist, and she lip-syncs so much that it’s hard for others to believe this is the same Lalisa from Blackpink.

She hasn’t done a single live performance where you can hear her real voice because they still present her like an idol in Korea, where everything has to look and sound perfect. If she’s going for a more Western style, then she should go for it fully because no one would mind that here. I really wish she would just focus on what she’s best at, like rapping and dancing. That’s her true talent.

But then we get something like “Moonlit Floor, ” and you can tell her voice doesn’t even match well. She even had an interview where she could have proven herself vocally but didn’t quite manage to.

The best example of taking time, putting love into a song, and truly working on it is Rosé from Blackpink. And if anyone says, “Yeah, but she did a collab with Bruno, so of course it’s getting so much attention, ” the answer is no! Even without him, it would still have been good work.

I’ve been a Blink for years, but I still have my criticisms. I don’t want to be like every other Blink—or whatever people are calling themselves these days just because all four members are focusing on solo careers—acting as if everything they do is perfect and overhyping it all…..

I don't think that her solo comebacks is a flop. I mean she is just starting to be independently building up her career.

She was hoping her solo fans would be enough to carry her outside of Asia, since in Asia it seems like looks and stage-presence is more important than good songs and actually being able to sing. I don't think she ever cared about the music itself, and I don't think she ever will because she's received too much validation from fans and has too much money to actually be motivated to change. She'll probably continue the way she always has - with a lot of crazy fans obsessing over everything she does while never escaping very valid criticism until anyone who's smart will avoid her.

Once again it's proven how unserious the VMAs are as awards. From the moment Lisa wins without even counting the minimum condition of being within the eligibility period, it says it all. And I don't know if her career is a flop but it's definitely not K-Pop.

I actually agree with you. And, why wasn't Jisoo nominated last year? She had one of the BIGGEST KPop songs last year, most viewed KPop video of 2023, TONES of streams, and no nominated for 2023! Plus, the other noms were FANFREAKINTANSTIC!

Since when is Tyla considered a “Pop Icon”? 😂 OMFG she literally has ONE HIT song, and then people wonder why artists have such short shelf lives. People in the new generations, are quick to praise and quick to toss artists. No actual ICON has been produced by the music industry in a very, very long while.

The vmas were a mess... and also it's wrong that she was nominated for rockstar in 2024 cause it wasnt eligible and defo NOT KPOP...she could have been in any category in 2025!

She's a good entertainer esp a dancer...but not a singer. She's not up to western standards. She does get the gigs due to her starpower but it isn't far-off that LVMH brands and non-LVMH brands, shows, etc are entertaining her/opening windows for her because of the Arnault name connected to her. She cannot remove that privilege no matter what her fans say. The Arnault company somehow profited from her stardom as well but until when? Now, that Rose shot to the top with a bop song that she wrote and did a real collab with the composition, showing her vocal capabilities...the tables might've turned to see who is the true artist with the potential for longevity. Britney may have lip sync before but she is also a vocal powerhouse aside from being a real good singer.

I don't understand what people think. They think she will break all the records in the western industry just with her 2 songs. She has just started and everything needs some time and for God sake give her a break. Even some western artists are still struggling to gain attention from the audience. I am sure she will win everyone's heart in time but honestly I loved her performance. Haters going to bark every time in everything whatever she does. It's their choice to bark and let them be. We'll support her and other BP members in every step.
