Visible Shock Wave on 737 Wing Surface

Under the right conditions the shockwave created by the supersonic airflow over the surface of a wing becomes visible. Even though the aircraft is flying below the speed of sound, the flow of air over the surface of the wing can exceed the speed of sound, creating a shockwave.
