Spain's King, Felipe VI, has said he is "devastated" by the deadly flash floods which have swept across the country.

At least 51 people have been killed with Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez warning victims that conditions are still dangerous and should take care when navigating areas which have been badly hit.

A town near Valencia saw more than a year's worth of rain in just eight hours, as water washed away cars and destroyed bridges in some areas.

Feel sad for all the people who died. Ironic in Spain we are short of water. We need a solution like a underground reservoir to stop the flooding especially in the Valencia region. It would also be a solution to the water shortage. R.I.P. to all the people who died

My deepest sympathies to the victims of these flash floods. They are one of the risks of a Mediterranean climate, we have them here in California, too. A few years ago we had them when we got an incredible 22 inches of rain in 8 hours. An arid or semi-arid landscape can’t possibly absorb that, especially after our long, dry summers. I hope the government will provide plenty of financial help to those affected. Of course, nothing can replace the lost lives, I’m so sorry.

Will this fill the reservoirs ? The whole of southern Spain has been going through severe drought for many years.

It is heartbreaking to see people so helpless. May God have mercy on them.

Strip away the forests, grasslands, meadows and wetlands. Replace them with massive Big Ag monoculture and water impermeable development concentrated in coastal and water course floodplains, and this is what you get.

Yes, the planet is warming because of us. But these so-called "natural" disasters are primarily caused by human greed and stupidity. This will never improve until we accept this reality.

Recommending to put your safety and security in high priority . And do not hesitate to contact emergency services, if in danger, the workers are still working hard to clear and clean up the region tirelessly, and we are proud of them.

Why werent people warned in time? There were no evacuation plans, as they did in the United States???
