A businessman named H. Paul Dorman paid the entire first year’s tuition for TCU med school’s entire first class! Two anonymous donors then followed suit by paying for TWO years of tuition for different class!!! Although these are only band aids for a much bigger issue (US students accumulating insurmountable debt), these are beautiful, absurdly generous acts by inspiring humans 🫶

Meanwhile in Denmark and many other countries, students get payed roughly 1000 dollars per month, and get free education for any job… and you get subsidies to help pay for any textbooks you need. Doesn’t matter if it’s med school or carpentry… whatever you want… you can…

And in Germany, when you meet the grades required, you don't pay for (any) uni. Education should be free.

When I was at university in the UK (1993-96) everyone’s tuition was paid by the government. Sadly that came to an end a few years later. 300k seems very excessive though, students in UK usually end up about 40-60k in debt. Luckily here in Germany it’s still free in most states.
